Event Marketing

Positioning

Positioning your event is creating an image of your event in the minds of the people who would attend it. It is about differentiating your event to a specific target audience. Properly positioning your event helps communicate why people should attend your event instead of the competition's.

Assessment of Value

This is important because if potential event attendees do not view your event as valuable, they will not attend and your event will not be successful.

Marketing Strategies

Marketing strategies can include traditional marketing outlets or social media outlets. Traditional strategies include marketing materials such as direct mail and print advertisements like posters, brochures, newspapers, and billboards. Social media strategies include promoting your event on various social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Blogs, and Pinterest.

As an Advertising and Promotion major, I understand how important it is to understand your target audience so you can market your event properly to them. Your message has to be clear and there has to be a call to action. Good advertising creates the buzz about your event. For my group's event, we chose to do a bridal exposition. Our target audience are brides between the ages of 22-35, which would make them millennials. One thing millennials do better than any other generation is social media. In order to properly reach our target audience, my group launched traditional and social media campaigns to advertise and successfully reach our target audience.
