Marketing Strategies

Target Audience Developing

Knowing your target audience will make or break your event. You should have a working knowledge base of the ages, hobbies/interests, education and income levels, geographic region, needs and wants, and challenges of your target audience. Different age ranges will require different marketing tactics to reach the intended audience. Potential sponsors are a target audience, as well as people who would attend your event. This paper covers all of these aspects and is tailored specifically to the event my group chose to plan, which was a wedding exposition.

The 5 W's

The 5 W's are the who, what, when, where, and why of your event. Being able to answer these 5 questions is crucial to the success of your event. Knowing your 5 W's will make marketing and communicating your event to your target audience an easier process. This paper describes the 5 W's of our wedding exposition in great detail.

Positioning Statement

Positioning your event is creating an image of your event in the minds of the people who would attend it. It is about differentiating your event to a specific target audience. You should not be trying to position you event to the whole world. Positioning is a niche tactic. Events can position by their location, venue, competition, weather, cost, entertainment, and media. This paper positions and differentiates our wedding exposition from one of the biggest expositions that comes through the Kalamazoo area on an annual basis.

Marketing Strategies

Marketing strategies can include traditional marketing outlets or social media outlets. They should include general event information such as the location, date, and time of your event. They also include pricing, distribution, and advertising and promotion information. The traditional and social media strategies should have marketing goals, tactics, objectives, a target audience, and success metrics. This paper goes over the pricing, distribution, and advertising an promotion aspects of our wedding exposition. It also goes into detail on our social media campaign and traditional marketing tactics.
